For at least three or four days, the Marlins will be without the services of Chris Coghlan. If the 25-year-old left fielder's back doesn't respond by then, a stint on the disabled list is a possibility.

The target date for John Baker's return from the disabled list could be another month or so away. Swinging the bat has been encouraging. The real test will be when he starts throwing.
