This guy is an absolute BEAST. Only 24 years old and he’s already one of, if not the best shortstop in all of baseball. He can literally do everything. Hit for average, power, excellent fielder, gets on base, and steals bases when he gets on. His power is way above average for a shortstop and rivals that of Miguel Tejada. He’s got everything, the true 5-tool player. I dare you to find me a shortstop that’s significantly better than Hanley. You won’t find one, I can guarantee it. This kid is special, and he’s a near lock for at least 1 MVP before his career is all said and done. I can’t say enough good things about him. If the Marlins ever escape from obscurity and futility, he’s going to be the sole reason why. He’s going to carry this team on his back, no matter who his supporting cast is, and he’s going to have a great one when Cameron Maybin is ready. He’s the epitome of a superstar. It’s a shame that he doesn’t get more attention. If he were playing in a big market, you’d hear his name when people discuss Jimmy Rollins, Derek Jeter, and Jose Reyes, but because he plays in an empty ballpark for a bad team 81 times a year, he gets no pub, and it in part cost him any shot of the NL MVP last year. He was a legit candidate but was clearly overshadowed by guys like Matt Holliday and J-Roll, who were both deserving, don’t get me wrong. Hopefully they get everything situated down there…get a new ballpark, develop a talented team and KEEP IT THAT WAY (I’m talking to you Jeff Loria), and he’ll get his deserved props. Watching this guy makes me so glad that the Red Sox traded him away, and I bet they’d regret it too if they didn’t get Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell in return. That almost makes it fair, but I’d still have to say advantage: Marlins. Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

| December 12th, 2007 | Maybin and Miller |
What do you guys think of the recent trade with the Tigers for Maybin and Miller? I think it’s a pretty good move. We get two players who in 2-3 seasons will evolve into similar type players for us. We are obviously not ready to compete right now so the deal makes a lot of sense. Add to it another 4 prospects and the deal is even sweeter.
